Amazon Should Be DisruptedI read the article and thought, if what the authors want is analytics why aren’t Amazon.com??adding that? In one of the later stages of WorkingTitle365 I will be giving much of the analytics information the Makers want, directly from Google Analytics??or any other analytics engine I attach.

How large is a Two-Pizza Team? #scrum #xp
After reading about 2 pizza teams in Wired UK 03.12, I read that the comment came from Werner Vogels, the Amazon CTO. He says prefers two-pizza teams; “technology teams working on a given project typically can be fed by no more than two pizzas—usually eight or fewer people.” This makes no sense to me, and I’m sure you may find the same.
I can easily eat a 13″ pizza at one sitting. A 13″ pizza has an area of approximately 856.3 cm2, the largest size that Dominos Pizza makes is 16″ with an area of approximately 1297 cm2. This means that I would be full at approximately 66% of the 16″ pizza, when I split it evenly the pizza only feeds two and leaves us both a little hungry.

Freehand, Amazon and eBay #stealth #startup
This is the first freehand unscheduled post in a while. And as such contains ramblings and general musings.
I was looking on eBay today, as I was searching for hardware needed by a client without funding and a light wallet. I was comparing the prices to the list prices for the RFQ and saw a Cisco Certification book offered for $4.95 (Intn’l shipping $12.99). I obviously looked at Amazon, and it was being offered there for $2.07 (No intn’l shipping).
I realized that for somebody, such as me, who wanted to make profit in the margins and had an application which bought the popular/profitable eBay/Amazon items from Amazon and sold them on eBay. That person could have the money charged to the company PayPal account and use this money to recharge the company creditcard.
As usual, this is something that I haven’t build, or tested.
WordPress trouble with Amazon’s Affiliate Image
I was adding an article for “Just Finished Reading” and tried to update it, and where I expected the Amazon Affiliate image of a book to be there was nothing. Very strange. After some messing with the code I was convinced it was me, in the Visual tab in WordPress it looked find, but when I hit the Preview button it broke. After a little bit of tweaking I discovered that the http query for previewing broke the image for some reason.

Today I’m a Mechanical Turk #amazon
It’s true, I had always seen the service and did nothing with it. Amazon‘s Mechanical Turk is a service with the byline Artificial Artificial Intelligence. People taking over the tasks that computers can’t do. Today I performed 33 HITs (Human Intelligence Tasks) and 3 were rejected, so I made $0.30 in less than 5 minutes. So it’s not going to make me rich at $1.50 an hour. 🙂 The HITs were quite easy, I took the task from Amazon to compare item descriptions and see if they were identical or different.
What was most fun was discovering how this was being done, I’ve thought of using this service to provide build blacklists of words in different languages or a translation corpus, something that is just a too small for RentACoder and can easily be split into HITs.
There were some HITs which might have been better placed on RentACoder, and for which you would certainly be able to earn more money.
A brilliant way to expand the semantic web.

I sold out to #amazon
It’s true I sold out already – not to the military industrial complex I sold out to them years ago. I sold out to commerce, I created an Amazon Associates account and am going to try to rake in the cash. 🙂 I might even start up my Squidoo Lenses again, though I didn’t earn anything from it the first time round.
