A Wimp Who Cries at Movies

It’s true, I’m a wimp who cries at movies. Not all movies, just at specific movies like The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. It really spoke to me and for me it reaffirmed the fragility of life. I held my beautiful baby girl the next day and I realized once again that it is truly for her that I do all the things I do.

Watch the movie. 😉

Just Finished Reading “Young Winston” #books

leave a comment »

I borrowed a number of books from an aunt of mine, who reviewed these books for a organization she worked for, I’m still investigating which organization this was. These books include a number of novelizations of movies and novels on which movies are based. Sadly she is currently incapacitated, but I hope I will soon be able to give these back to her.

Young Winston – The Screenplay is not a novelisation of a movie, but the shooting script itself, albeit redacted to remove highly technical and irrelevant notation.

Young Winston is a dramatization of Sir Winston Churchill‘s book My Early Life and was quite interesting for somebody like myself who knows little about Churchill, besides his pivotal rol in winning WWII.

It was quite interesting to get to know Churchill as somebody other than the hero. A boy neglected by his parents, send of to boarding school, trying desperately to live up to the man he thinks his father wants him to be. Involved in some of the famed battles of the British Empire, yet believing that gentlemen should be above that.

“… it is no longer a game. But … it may be that the human race is doomed never to learn from its mistakes.”

An interesting read.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in 2 Parts #books #movies

leave a comment »

I was just reading Warner Bros. and the Magic World of Harry Potter and saw that the last Harry Potter book will be in two parts. Obviously this being the last story they need to stretch it out as much as possible.

  • Spring 2010: The theme park attraction, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, will open at Universal Orlando Resort, Orlando, Fla.
  • Holiday 2010: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1, based on the final novel, is scheduled for theatrical release.
  • Summer 2011: The final movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2, will be released.

UPDATE: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is being released on the 15th of July.

New Ice-Age #movie

leave a comment »

I loved Ice Age and liked Ice Age: The Meltdown. So to cater to my needs they are producing an Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. I’ve seen this part called the threequel. *sigh* Sequel has nothing to do with second and everything to do with sequence.
Merriam-Webster defines it as:

  1. consequence, result
  2. a: subsequent development
b: the next installment (as of a speech or story); especially : a literary, cinematic, or televised work continuing the course of a story begun in a preceding one

My English isn’t fantastic, though it’s my mother-tongue, but I don’t go making up words because I don’t have even a basic comprehension of the works I’m using. Anyway, it put me right off the film.

Michael Moore in Slacker Uprising #movie #p2008

with one comment

I just finished watching Slacker Uprising by Michael Moore. I can’t say I really liked it, it’s as always a propaganda film. It is an interesting view on how the election of 2004 was lost, and features some big names, it just didn’t touch me. US politics had gone to hell in a handbasket in 2004.

Tom Morello said it right, when he said that the fight starts on the day after the election. The problems don’t end, just because a president has been chosen.

The Bucket List #movie

Finally I rented it last night, it’s a nice movie. I really recommend it if you haven’t seen it yet. I’d seen Sean Hayes (Just Jack!) promoting it and had it on my bucket list.

New X-Files #movie

leave a comment »

Next week, September 7th in the Netherlands, they should be releasing a new X-Files movie The X-Files: I Want to Believe. What’s up with the marketing of this movie, why hadn’t I heard of it? Was word of mouth restricted to the fan sites?

I’m excited, I love Sculder and Mully!
