Twitter Turn Based Games #game #social

chess piece

When I was shown this in January I wasn’t surprised to see a turn based with Twitter as the transport mode appear, I was very happy that turn based social gaming has left Facebook. The first step by was to implement a javascript based chess and checkers client which posts a challenge and the subsequent moves to Twitter via the public stream or via DM. There will be a leader board to track progress in the games.

The public version makes it possible for others to follow the moves of the people they follow by using the short link posted in the message, as seen below. And the private version doesn’t spam your followers with messages for people who don’t want to clutter their public stream with messages.

FaceBook: FarmVille #games

with 5 comments

I must say, although I don’t often play games, some of the games are fun and some of them are highly addictive, in one I noticed some of my friends playing they weren’t applying simple logic to their game play.

FarmVille is a level game, and with each level – gained by earning experience points (XP) – certain new crops are released. One of my friends, at level 24, has the following crops which are released and you can see that RaspBerries are the best to grow if you have enough time to play, these mature in 2 hours for an average profit of 13 gold, although for 10 gold and 1 XP you can best grow BlueBerries. The next are tomatoes or coffee depending on whether you have 8 hours or 16 hours until your next session. People who can only play once a day should grow Peppers.

Naturally this is so for level 24, but for your level you can also find your optimal crop with little difficulty. The table below is ordered as it comes out of the FarmVille Market.

Making a Movie based on a Video Game

leave a comment »

On June 16th in the US and July 2nd in the Netherlands Disney will release Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. I liked the original game Prince of PersiaIMDB released in 1989, although I never played any of the other games. I can’t remember if my friend had it on NES or SNES, but in my mind I played it on the Commodore 64. Must be my imagination as it isn’t possible according to the list on Wikipedia.

I wonder how the film turns out…

A new Web Dimension #games

leave a comment »

My father always said there are no games like Web Dimensions (Activision) which are only playable on the computer. Monopoly, Sim City and even a FPG can be played IRL as a board game or with a group of people and a paintball range. I have found another game which would be practically impossible to replicate IRL: Strange Attractors 2.

I had to think about it, and as the game field is 3D we could be inside a ball made from some ferrous material with powerful electron magnets. (MRI rules apply.)

US Air Force Fighter Training

with 2 comments

It’s been said that the US Air Force uses this for fighter pilots, if you can go longer on Escapa! than 18 seconds you are brilliant. Fighter pilots are expected to go for at least 2 minutes.

Shouldn’t they be shooting down airliners?
