Is Google a monopoly?

with 2 comments

The question ‘When do we declare Google a monopoly?‘ is something I’ve also wondered about. Then I discovered that Google gets $1.10 of Every New Search Dollar1 According to the article Google has 77.4% of the search ad market, Yahoo! has 17.8% and Microsoft Live Search 4.8%.

Now Google are adding Digg to their portfolio.2 It looks like they are really buying themselves a monopoly position that Gates would be proud of. I’m sure Microsoft will continue trying to takeover Yahoo!’s search, more so now Carl Icahn’s has influence on Yahoo!’s board.
